International math assessments PISA and TIMSS place Spain 11 and 25 points below the European Union (EU) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) averages, respectively. Spain's math scores are also 26 and 9 points below the country's own reading comprehension and science levels, respectively. Furthermore, compared to neighboring countries, a high percentage of students show what is considered a very low level of math proficiency.

The project's goal is to improve mathematical learning among early childhood, primary, and secondary education students, especially those with lower performance levels. This will be achieved by developing a framework for individualized learning in the math classroom. This framework will rely on AI-based tools that continuously analyze students' results in their regular math practice, in order to assign the most appropriate activities to each student. It will also guide teachers' practice, helping them work with material best suited to their class's level and curriculum requirements. Finally, teachers will be able to analyze their students' learning outcomes at any time through a dashboard system powered by generative artificial intelligence.

These innovations are based on the creation of detailed learning trajectories and a curriculum-based assessment system, as well as the design and development of an integrated platform for managing educational data that supports the AI models used to optimize the teaching-learning process. The project is grounded in the theoretical framework of Data-Based Intervention and includes the implementation of analytical visualizations for teaching staff and educational institution managers, showing each student's academic status and the factors influencing the decisions made by the AI. The development of these visualizations will draw on visual analytics and augmented analytics techniques, specifically incorporating generative AI with language models to support understanding and facilitate decision-making.

This initiative proposes a consortium made up of INNOVAMAT EDUCATION, S.L., the FUNDACIÓN CENTRO TECNOLÓXICO DE TELECOMUNICACIÓNS DE GALICIA, and the UNIVERSITAT ROVIRA I VIRGILI. This grouping covers all the research and development stages of the project's various activities, and the extensive experience contributed by the different entities in their respective fields ensures the capacity needed to carry out the project and achieve its objectives. It should be noted that a project of this scope could hardly be undertaken by a single entity, particularly given the high degree of multidisciplinary work required to meet all the proposed objectives. Therefore, using a consortium structure like the one proposed here is essential for its proper execution.

This project aligns with thematic priorities 2. Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society and 4. Digital World, Industry, Space and Defense of the 2021-2023 National Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research. Specifically, it falls under the thematic priority of CULTURE, CREATIVITY AND INCLUSIVE SOCIETY, within the strategic line of Cognition, Linguistics and Psychology, and under the thematic priority of DIGITAL WORLD, INDUSTRY, SPACE AND DEFENSE, within the strategic line of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. This alignment with these thematic priorities stems from the combination of various disciplines and technologies — such as large-scale data processing, artificial intelligence, mathematical didactics and cognition, and scientific and methodological improvements in addressing learning difficulties — needed to achieve the project's objectives. Accordingly, the project's primary subject area is educational sciences, with computer science and information technology as its secondary subject area.
